FINE PRINT
NOTES ON FILE PREPARATION
General Layout:
Slides are imaged in a horizontal or landscape format with an
aspect ratio of 2:3. It is suggested that all files be created in
the 35mm format. A page size of 7.33" x 11.0" works
well and will produce optimum results. Margins should be set to
none, however all important information should be kept about
1/4" from the frame edge to insure that it is not cropped by
the slide mount. All files not in 35mm format will be imaged in
the aspect ratio in which they are supplied. This may cause
unwanted black borders. If working in a page layour or
illustration program which is not specifically designed for
presentation graphics, it is good practice to place a rectangle
which completely fills the page dimensions as the first object on
your master template. This becomes the background and may be
filled with the color or design of your choice.
Type:
We support an ever growing number of type faces from Adobe,
TrueType and other libraries. To insure accurate type matches, we
encourage you to send your files as Postscript printer files with
downloaded fonts. Instruction on creating postscript printer
files is available upon request.
Business Graphics:
All of the popular presentation software packages provide
excellent pre-formatted templates or masters. If modifying a
master or designing your own look, it is suggested that
backgrounds be kept dark and the foreground (text, chart
information etc.) be done in a lighter, fully saturated color.
Type size should be at least 24pt. for legibility. Scanned images
imported into business graphics programs are acceptable provided
the bitmaps are of reasonable size. Business graphics slides
making extensive use of imported bitmaps (either as backgrounds
or as imported photos) require longer imaging times and may be
charged at the bitmap rate.
Bitmaps:
Scanned images, screen captures, and files which have been
created or manipulated in PhotoShop or similar software are
bitmaps. They should be converted to RGB with all extra channels
turned off, and saved as uncompressed 24 bit TARGA (TGA) or TIFF
formats. Bitmap files not in proper slide aspect ratio will be
centered entirely within the 35mm frame (black border on 2
sides), or upon request, imaged to fill the entire 35mm frame
(portions will be cropped). Bitmaps should be rotated to
horizontal to provide the largest possible image on film. Please
do not send bitmaps as EPS files.
FILE TRANSFERS:
Files may be brought or sent on floppy disk, many removable mass
storage media, or sent electronically via internet or dial-up
modem access. Contact us for
